The use of AI in the defense presents both opportunities and challenges. AI may improve military success, improve decision-making, and improve national security. It raises social concerns, concerns about accountability, and concerns about potential conflicts of interest. Given that the big powers are also competing to develop AI separately, the lack of a global governance framework makes these challenges even more difficult.
To establish rules that encourage the right use of military AI, a global collaboration is required. In order to define the future of AI-based warfare and reduce risks to global security, it will be crucial to synchronize innovation with moral principles.
