Prior to the launch of its large-language model ( LLM) last month, the Hangzhou-based start-up was only two years old when it was founded by a hedge fund called High Flyer.

It challenges conventional wisdom regarding the cost of producing these items in addition to the hegemony of similar US goods like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

In subsequent month, the company has launched two strong AI types – DeepSeek-V3 and DeepSeek-R1– which were built at a fraction of the cost and computing power used by US tech giants for their products.
