” It was launched about 10 days ago. Overnight, it became a sensation, and fundamentally, it became the number one game on Apple App Store. The app has been downloaded by “tens of millions of people” on their devices, according to Andrew Hoog.
Hoog and his team at Chicago’s NowSecure decided to do a thorough analysis of the iPhone’s DeepSeek game. A 23-page statement on it was released by Now Secure.
We discovered three major flaws in the program as well as a number of privacy issues, which, according to Hoog, mean that using DeepSeek iOS can put your data and identity at risk.
NowSecure discusses the safety of hundreds of apps and has been featured in a number of I-Team reviews over the years.
They are much more knowledgeable about you than your system website is. They can get cameras, location how you hold your telephone, a lot of info that you eventually show who you are”, Hoog said.
Hoog claims that the Chinese firm that owns your DeepSeek knowledge also holds those details for them.
The information is sent to China, which entails that it is subject to Taiwanese rules. Their government has the right to ask any information for any reason, Hoog said.
And Wiz Research, a company that studies security, reported recently that DeepSeek had a considerable data breach hole that exposed more than 1 million records. Hoog claims that’s another reason to focus on his research.
They send you identifying details over the internet, but they don’t defend it in any way. That implies that anyone on the internet may listen to that, or that could be altered by hackers to compromise your data’s dignity, Hoog said.
Additionally, NowSecure claims that DeepSeek uses outdated encryption, which is ten years old, and that the game secretly stores your account, password, and encryption code on your system without protection. ABC7 forwarded and sent a message to DeepSeek on X, and we haven’t yet heard again.
Since the research focused on the application on the iphone Apple system, ABC7 furthermore reached out to Apple representatives. We have not yet gotten a reaction.
Hoog says if you want to apply DeepSeek, he suggests using it on a desktop, which is safer. That is because sites, unlike programs, do not allow as much exposure to personal information.
