Artificial to fuel a new era of smart gardening

The future of smart agriculture is widely anticipated to include the use of artificial intelligence ( AI), enabling farmers to make data-driven decisions, optimize resource usage, increase crop yields, and promote sustainable farming practices through real-time monitoring and predictive analysis.

The Punjab Agricultural University ( PAU)’s College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology has established a School of Digital Innovations for Smart Agriculture, a significant step in the direction of digital agriculture. Under the Remote Pilot Training Organisation ( RPTO ), this initiative aims to introduce cutting-edge technologies like AI, the Internet of Things ( IoT ) and drone technology to the agricultural sector. Rs. 5 million has been provided for money, of which Rupees. 2.5 billion was provided by PAU from the Punjab Government.

The Centre has given Rs 1 million to PAU in exchange for the formation of a RPTO. The Ministry of Civil Aviation, GOI, has approved RPTO, which will provide remote youth with licensed helicopter flying courses for the benefit of producers.

The main goal of this initiative is to create a skilled workforce capable of utilizing the potential of modern technologies to enhance agriculture. We can increase crop yields, decrease water intake, and promote sustainable farming practices by integrating AI, IoT, robotics engineering, and drone technology.

The School of Digital Innovations for Smart Agriculture may concentrate on creating cutting-edge options for produce surveillance, automated farming, and crop monitoring. The fresh PG courses and training programs will give students hands-on practice in designing, developing, and deploying AI-powered agricultural methods to increase productivity.

The advantages of this program include improved crop yields, improved water conservation, and increased efficiency thanks to integrated farming systems, as well as improved decision-making in the agricultural ecosystem. This initiative may contribute to the creation of wise farms, agricultural startups, and electronic agriculture ecosystems in the future.

The College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology at PAU is poised to revolutionize Punjab’s and international agrarian sectors by creating the School of Digital Innovations for Smart Agriculture. This program has the potential to transform crops into a more productive, useful, and green industry, finally benefiting farmers, consumers, and the environment.

By lowering input costs, increasing crop yields, and making the most of resources, AI is transforming crops. In order to forecast agricultural productivity, identify problem areas, and improve resource allocation techniques, AI-powered technology analyze vast amounts of data from cameras, uavs, and other digital tools. PAU’s School of Digital Innovations for Smart Agriculture is a significant step forward in this respect. These innovations help farmers make informed decisions that increase efficiency and sustainability by enabling detail farming.

AI will help usher in a new era of bright farming, creating more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems, with ongoing improvements.
